Kogi govt confirms arrest of suspects in Agojegu Odo attack

About a week after the killing of more than 20 people in Agojegu Odo village in Omala Local Government Area, Kogi State, governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Wednesday, confirmed the arrest of some of the masterminds of the attack.

Ododo revealed this while addressing journalists shortly after observing his Eid-el-fitri prayers at the Central Eid praying ground, in Okene, his hometown.

More than 20 people were killed, and many houses were set ablaze in the tiny agrarian community when gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked it

Fielding questions on the attack, Ododo told journalists that the suspected attackers had been arrested.

Ododo also spoke on allegations of non performance against his administration.

“Reacting to noise makers, and those that do not have a stake as far as governance is concerned, is not part of the mandate given to me by the good people of Kogi State and Mr. President.

“The crisis in Bagana in Omala Local Government did not start today. It has been in existence for over 45 years ago, precisely 1978. We are doing our best to make sure peace is restored within the area.

“As I speak to you today, the suspected sponsors have been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing. They are giving us useful information that will lead to the arrest of other suspects. As soon as we are done with that investigation, the report will be made known to the public.”
