Born in 1986 to a poor family in Kurdistan, northern Iraq, Chef Bashdar Rzgar Aziz faced hardships from an early age. Food was often scarce, but this scarcity sparked a fascination with cooking. Even as a child, the aroma of food intrigued him, driving him to experiment with ingredients, flavors, and spices.

His curiosity and passion for cooking only grew as he got older, and he began testing new combinations, eager to craft dishes that were not just filling but flavorful.

As Bashdar matured, he left his homeland and moved to Sweden, where he found new opportunities to explore his culinary passion. While in Sweden, he sought formal training and earned two culinary certifications, one from Germany and another from Sweden.

These achievements officially made him a master chef, and soon after, he opened his own restaurant. His establishment served Kurdish dishes alongside a selection of international foods, blending the flavors he had grown to love.

Despite his success, the COVID-19 pandemic drastically impacted his business. Faced with the difficult decision to close his restaurant, Chef Bashdar turned to his kitchen for comfort. Rather than giving up, he began filming his culinary creations and sharing them online.

Slowly but surely, his videos gained attention, and people became captivated by his ability to make cooking seem both approachable and delicious. His online following grew as more and more viewers tuned in to learn from his unique approach to cooking.

Today, Chef Bashdar continues to share his love of food through his online tutorials, offering recipes that are as rich in flavor as they are in history.

His inventive combinations of traditional Kurdish and international cuisines have earned him recognition, and his recipes are now served in restaurants across both Sweden and northern Iraq.
