Bayer Leverkusen win Germany league

Bayer Leverkusen won their first Bundesliga title on Sunday after demolishing Werder Bremen 5-0 with five games still left to play and without losing any match.

There were scenes of jubilation for Xabi Alonso’s team when the final whistle blew at BayArena on Sunday.

Florian Wirtz grabbed a hat-trick in the encounter, while Victor Boniface and Granit Xhaka were also on target.

Boniface opened the scoring for Leverkusen from the penalty spot in the 25th minute of the match, with Granit Xhaka adding a second in the 60th minute after collecting a pass and fired the ball inside the left post, leaving the goalkeeper stranded.

Eight minutes later, Florian Wirtz received a quality pass, made a yard for himself and smashed a jaw-dropping long-range shot into the top of the net for the third goal.

Wirtz added the fourth goal for Leverkusen after receiving a great pass from his teammate and struck a very powerful shot towards goal that went inside of the right post.

Wirtz got his hat-trick in the 90th minute. He collected a pass and without hesitation fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom left corner.
