The invasion of the Oyo State Government secretariat by an armed group of Yoruba Nation agitators has been described by June 12 Activists under the aegis of the Coalition of Pro-Democracy Groups for A Better Nigeria as a display of lunacy.

The group also condemned the embarrassing roles played by Mrs Modupe Onitiri-Abiola and Mr Omobolaji Olawale Omokore in the invasion saga.

The activists’ reaction is contained in a press release signed by their National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji which was forwarded to P.M.NEWS on Saturday.

According to Awa Bamiji, since news of the invasion of Oyo State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, by Yoruba Nation agitators, all of whom were dressed in Army camouflages broke, media attention has shifted to Ibadan, the Capital of Oyo State.

“It is a classical definition of insanity and display of illiteracy because we observed that this splinter group, according to Prof Banji Akintoye, was beclouded by inordinate ambition to outsmart the main body of Yoruba Nation led Prof Banji Akintoye/Chief Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a Sunday Igboho) in taking over the seat of old Western Region Government. They seem not to understand the gravity of the crime they have committed.

“They furnished the Office of their Provisional Head of dramatic government, did swearing-in ceremony for the Interim Head of a non-existent government.

“Based on a viral video, Mrs Dupe Onitiri Abiola revealed that in pursuant to the earlier declaration and reclamation they did on Sunday 20 November 2022, and Sunday 18 December 2022 respectively, Omobolaji Olawale Akinola Omokore’s swearing-in ceremony took place on Friday, 12 April 2024, only for the gunmen’s invasion of the Agodi Secretariat to follow on Saturday, 13 April 2024!

“We commend the combined team of Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence and Amotekun Corps who engaged the armed agitators in exchange of fire at the Secretariat, overpowering the miscreants.

“We, therefore, condemn all the unfolding dramas in totality and call for a thorough investigation of the entire episode to unravel the mystery behind it while beefing up the security Network around States and Federal Government Secretariats as well as Government Houses is imperative,” the group said.
