Dominic Calvert-Lewin scores Everton's second goal

Liverpool’s hope of winning the premier league hit a major setback on Wednesday as they were beaten 2-0 by Everton at the Goodison Park.

Everton opened the scoring in the 27th minute of the match. Jarrad Branthwaite was in the right place at the right time to pounce on the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball home.

Earlier, a header by Dominic Calvert-Lewin from very close range went towards the top right corner, but did not get past Alisson, who made a brilliant save.

Darwin Nunez, in the 35th minute collected a great pass inside the box and missed a golden opportunity. His low shot was directed into the middle of the goal, but the goalkeeper did well to stop his effort.

In the 44th minute, Luis Diaz had time and space inside the box after picking up a neat pass, but his shot towards the bottom right corner was brilliantly saved by Jordan Pickford.

Dwight McNeil, in the 57th minute got into a good scoring position. He created some space for himself and tried his luck from distance. His decent effort towards the underside of the crossbar was, however, superbly saved by Alisson.

A minute later, Everton doubled their lead. Dominic Calvert-Lewin outjumped the defence inside the six-yard box to meet the corner and scored with a great header into the bottom left corner to make it 2-0.

In the 70th minute, Luis Diaz picked up the ball inside the box and produced a snap shot which smashed against the right post.
