Ekiti State Government has launched a new security outfit, Agro Marshalls (ESAM) to protect farmlands and forests in the state.

The State is one of the states in the Southwest where there have been complaints of criminals involved in kidnapping and other crimes using the forests and farms as cover for their notorious activities.

Many farmers have been forced to abandon their farms as a result of their notorious activities.

While announcing the launch of the new security outfit on its social media platform, the State Government said “In order to ensure a thriving agriculture industry, food security and grassroots protection in Ekiti State, Ekiti State Government has established Ekiti State Agro Marshalls (ESAM) to ensure the safety and security of farmlands and forests across Ekiti State.

“Today, Ekiti State Government held a passing out parade for the maiden set of ESAM officers. The officers were inspected and decorated by the governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji”
