The “Not So Talked About” Elements of Nigerian Debuts – Jaytunes and the 2unez Unlimited Collective on Jiggy Forever
Quick Read
From a critic’s perspective, this is one of the clearest examples of FedasWRLD’s emerging identity as a producer capable of handling both the emotional and technical layers of a record and being able to shine among the OG in the game.
By Chinonso Ihekire
Nigerian producer and artist Young Jonn steps into a new creative space on his debut album “Jiggy Forever”. The Chocolate City Music signed act comes correct on this debut. Instead of relying only on the upbeat log drums and bright Afrobeats energy that shaped his early hits, he expands his sound with warmer instrumentation, more emotional layering, and a clearer sense of personal storytelling. The album feels like a diary written in rhythm, with Young Jonn shifting between ambition, reflection, and pure enjoyment. Instead of just simply chasing radio energy, he builds a more personal soundscape. He describes the “Jiggy” mindset as staying above the noise of life, keeping your energy high, and letting your confidence speak for you.
Supported by a cast of collaborators that includes Seyi Vibez, Blaqbonez, Zlatan, Sean Paul, Kizz Daniel, Ya Levis, and Don Jazzy, the Ibadan-born musician blends playful songwriting with honest confessions. His background starting music in the church still shapes the emotional aspects of his releases, especially in the way he uses strings, melodic layering and the kind of producers he works with. According to him, he lets the beat guide his thoughts. Each song on the project reflects a moment or feeling he experienced, and the album plays like a journey through those moods.
Here, the production presence of Jaytunes, also known as Jhay2unez, becomes one of the album’s strongest anchors. He is responsible for shaping key tracks including 1, 8, 11, 13, and 15, giving the project some of its most memorable textures. Jaytunes works closely with the 2unez Unlimited team, a tight production unit that provides additional technical work, arrangement support, and sound refinement that helps the album stay consistent and polished. FedasWRLD is another important creative force, contributing guitar strokes, mixing packs, and co-production energy to “Sharpally” and “Full My Tank”. Her hands-on involvement influences the bounce, color, and rhythmic shape of both songs. Boy Survival also contributes technical ideas on Track 1, working with Jaytunes to strengthening the emotional weight of the intro track into the debuts.
The opening track sets the emotional tone for the entire album. Young Jonn reflects on his journey with a steady and atmospheric sound bed. Boy Survival contributes key technical elements here, adding texture and depth that lift the intro beyond a simple opening. His artistic input gives the track a more cinematic build-up and helps reinforce the reflective mood Young Jonn wanted to establish from the beginning.
TONY MONTANA
Contrary to its title, “Tony Montana” plays more like a plea for clarity and guidance. Young Jonn channels the grit associated with the character from the film but uses it to express a desire for direction and strength. Instead of aggression, the song centers on endurance and an inner confidence that grows through faith.
POT OF GOLD
“Pot of Gold” carries a danceable pulse but also captures Young Jonn’s internal transition from producer to full vocalist. He questions purpose and the chase for fulfilment. The track becomes a snapshot of artistic evolution, delivered with upbeat energy that hides a thoughtful core.
BAHAMAS
This track finds Young Jonn in a relaxed but confident state. Placed in an imagined tropical setting, he rejects shallow love and insists on genuine connection. The song celebrates feeling comfortable in one’s own space while keeping things simple and honest.
AQUAFINA
“Aquafina” is built on a smooth fusion of strings and heavy drum patterns. Young Jonn explores the tension between fading affection and emotional honesty. The song stands as a direct reminder that truth is better than forced romance.
BIG BIG THINGS (feat. KIZZ DANIEL and SEYI VIBES)
Created with nightlife energy in mind, the track celebrates abundance. Young Jonn speaks boldly about wanting greatness in everything he does. The production leans into grandeur, matching the theme of living and dreaming big.
BUCKET LIST
“Bucket List” stays mellow even while expressing strong emotion. Its soft trumpets and calm arrangement support lyrics about love and priority. The track positions affection at the top of Young Jonn’s list of important things.
SHOWCASE (feat. BLAQBONEZ)
Young Jonn and Blaqbonez reconnect with familiar chemistry. The song comments on personal freedom in a society that often restricts self-expression. It is both playful and reflective, addressing judgement, police profiling, and the desire to show oneself without fear.
JEJE
“Jeje” floats on a laid-back rhythm as Young Jonn speaks on relationship honesty. He asks for less pressure and more truth, encouraging a slow, steady approach to connection. This song is produced by Jaytunes. His signature is clear on this song. Melodic intro then clean beat skeleton for audible vocals is Jaytunes style of production.
STRONGER
This emotional record looks back at the passing of Young Jonn’s mother, whose influence shaped his musical identity. Instead of feeling tougher after the loss, he admits to feeling more vulnerable. The song captures the long-lasting weight of grief and the bond between mother and child.
HOLD ON (feat. SEAN PAUL)
Recorded during a creative trip in Madrid, this track grew from an unexpected idea to bring Sean Paul into the song. The collaboration gives the track a lively twist and represents the spontaneous nature of music-making.
MAYA MAYA (feat. YA LEVIS)
This is one of the more sorrowful records. Young Jonn sings about missed chances and regret, recognising the hurt of not valuing someone until they are gone. Ya Levis adds emotional richness that deepens the sense of longing and memory.
50 BILLION (feat. ZLATAN)
“50 Billion” imagines a life of extravagant wealth in a playful way. Zlatan’s energy lifts the record, giving it a festive feel. The song invites listeners to join in the fantasy and celebration.
FULL MY TANK (feat. DON JAZZY)
Young Jonn teams up with Don Jazzy, someone he sees as a major influence on his sound. The collaboration feels meaningful and nostalgic. Song produced by Jaytunes and a co-effort from the Unlimited 2unez team. Particularly, FedasWRLD plays an important creative role here by contributing to the sound shaping and co-production process. Her technical involvement helps define the balance and musical warmth of the track, giving it a fuller and more refined feel. “Full My Tank” carries the weight of Don Jazzy’s legacy as a producer him self, yet FedasWRLD’s influence quietly elevates the track’s musical depth. Her co-production support plays a crucial role in the record’s structural balance. She contributes to the structural feel of the beat and offers technical refinements that give the track its polished warmth. Jaytunes credited that she is responsible for the heavy piano progression that opens the track, a bold and emotional motif that immediately sets the tone. As a group of producers on this song, Young Jonn being a producer before singing and Don Jazzy being a producer too, I think that’s why the production aspect of this song sounnds perfect. Jaytunes and Fedaswrld maturity contribution is evident in the way they blend modern Afropop sensibilities with a clean, spacious mix that allows Don Jazzy’s presence to land with clarity.
From a critic’s perspective, this is one of the clearest examples of FedasWRLD’s emerging identity as a producer capable of handling both the emotional and technical layers of a record and being able to shine among the OG in the game. Her work here is less flashy than her contributions to “Sharpally”, but it is creatively decisive and technically sophisticated.
SHINE SHINE
“Shine Shine” centers on resilience. Young Jonn asserts his strength and determination while reflecting on obstacles he has faced. The track celebrates self-belief and staying bright through challenges.
SHARPALLY
Produced by Jaytunes, this track was created while Young Jonn was recording in Lagos. The confidence he gained from the success of “Aquafina” influences its playful tone. The song was released before the album drops and it still made it into the final cut because of the it early success. The song appeals strongly to his female audience with its upbeat bounce. Jaytunes, who leads the production direction on this record, worked closely with FedasWRLD, whose contributions often fly under the radar. She contributes guitar work, mixing packs, and co-production guidance that help shape the record’s brightness and rhythm. Her input enhances the track’s groove and gives it its polished edge. FedasWRLD’s influence gives the record its tonal signature. Her guitar additions provide warmth and bounce, complementing Jaytunes’ sonic architecture. From a critical standpoint, one of the most striking qualities of “Sharpally” is the flute motif that carries the intro. It is instantly recognisable and one of the reasons listeners connect to the song so quickly. These kinds of elements rarely get proper attention, yet they are essential in defining the character of a hit. FedasWRLD’s work here is her intuitive sense of making intro attractive to listeners and spacing. while subtly animating the background with rhythmic guitar strokes there is still room for the artists vocals. In comparison to similar female producers in Afropop music today, her contribution is unusually hands-on, spanning creative and technical responsibilities. Her contribution on “Sharpally” stands as a testament to her ability and put the production team on radar of producers to watch out for.
GO HARD
This closing track echoes a straightforward street philosophy: give everything you have or step aside. The song pushes a message of focus and commitment, ending the album with high determination.
Its quite a common knowledge that production is backbones of any project like this and most Nigerian contributors like song writers, instrumentalist, producers do not get enough creative credit they deserve. You also rarely see nigerian producers collaborating on song productions. Jaytunes has amazing team of producers working with him. from a critical perspective, the most compelling revelation on Jiggy Forever is the quiet rise of production efforts from 2unez unlimited as a multidimensional creative force. Their work displays strong technical competence and clear artistic instinct. FedasWrld contributions to “Sharpally” and “Full My Tank” introduce a level of detail and melody, Boy Survival’s sensitivity and musical maturity that is uncommon among emerging producers in the Afropop space also contributes. The production team does not merely add layers: they influence structure, rhythm, texture and emotion of the album.
In the broader landscape of rising Nigerian producers, Jaytunes, Boy Survival and FedasWRLD stand out for their versatility and the coherence they bring to collaborative environments. The work on this album signals a trajectory worth paying attention to. If their contributions on this album are any indication of what they are capable of, then this is on track to become one of the next defining creative voices in contemporary Afropop.
