Renowned Nigerian singer,  Teniola Apata widely known as Teni, has clarified the reason behind her gesture of prostrating to greet popular entrepreneur and social figure, Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, also known as IBD Dende, during a recent plane encounter.

Previously, Teni faced criticism following the release of a video where she respectfully greeted IBD Dende onboard a plane, shared via her X handle last Friday.

Many netizens condemned her actions, citing allegations of smuggling against IBD Dende.

Addressing the matter on Sunday, Teni explained that her interaction with IBD Dende stemmed from his past kindness towards her, dating back to 2014, long before her rise to fame.

She stressed her ignorance regarding any criminal activities associated with him, stating that she holds him in high regard due to his earlier support.

The ‘Askamaya’ singer made it clear that she does not endorse criminal behavior, expressing her willingness to let the legal system handle the situation.
