Erling Haaland scored four goals on Saturday as Manchester City thrashed Wolves 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium to keep tabs on Arsenal.
Haaland opened the scoring for City 12 minutes into the game. He ran up to the ball, stopped and waited for Jose Sa to commit before slotting the penalty into the bottom left corner.
In the 18th minute, the gangling striker rose above the defence and headed the ball low, into the middle of the goal. The keeper was there waiting and denied him.
Haaland burst into the box in the 36th minute to get on the end of a whipped in cross from Rodri and scored magnificently from close range into the right side of the goal.
Three minutes into first half added time, Haaland put the ball into the bottom left corner past the outstretched arm of Jose Sa for his hat-trick.
In the 53rd minute, Wolves pulled one back through Hee-Chan Hwang. He seized on the loose ball after a huge error from Ederson and found the back of the net from inside the box to make it 3-1.
A minute later, Haaland converted a killer cross with a curling shot inside the left post for a perfect finish and for his fourth goal.
In the 60th minute, the striker ran onto a loose pass inside the box and released a tremendous shot towards the roof of the net. However, Jose Sa anticipated the shot and made a brilliant save.
In the 74th minute, Mateo Kovacic had a great opportunity from mid-range. His powerful low volley was directed towards the middle of the net, but Jose Sa was alert and made an astonishing save.
Julian Alvarez added City’s fifth goal in the 85th minute. Rodri played a pass to the feet of Alvarez, and he shot into the bottom right corner from inside the box.
