In a bid to rid Lagos of visible security risks and ensure the safety of residents, the Lagos State government has continued its statewide exercise, with recent success under the Dolphin Estate bridge.
According to a statement issued by Gbenga Omotoso, the Honorable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, the exercise will continue as part of the government’s responsibility to keep citizens of the state safe and secure.
Omotoso said, “the incessant influx of miscreants, beggars, and destitute individuals onto the streets of Lagos has sparked concerns over the security of lives and property, prompting swift action from authorities.
“As part of the ongoing operation, a total of 450 miscreants were rescued over the weekend. Among them, 371 have expressed a desperate need for assistance to relocate to their respective states, citing the harsh conditions they face in Lagos.”
Additionally, 79 individuals showing signs of illness have been absorbed into government facilities for rehabilitation.
The Honorable Commissioner also said the proactive measures undertaken by the Lagos State government underscore its dedication to maintaining law and order, while simultaneously addressing the welfare of vulnerable individuals within the community.
