The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku on Tuesday tendered an unreserved apology for the altercations and the rowdiness that resulted from the unilateral suspension he slammed on three lawmakers at Monday’s plenary.
Recall that Agbebaku had suspended indefinitely Donald Okogbe (PDP, Akoko-Edo II); Addeh Isibor (APC, Esan North-East I) and Bright Iyamu (PDP, Orhionnwon II), over an alleged plot to impeach him and other principal officers council (POC) members.
But, at plenary on Tuesday, Agbebaku said: “I wish to apologize to the staff of this Assembly for what happened yesterday during plenary. It was not our intention to create tension in the House. Am sure that this is not the first time you are experiencing such.
“We promise that it will not happen again. This apology is because we hold you in high esteem.”
Agbebaku however remained silent over the gate of the suspended members.
It would be recalled that the suspended members had protested their suspension by the Speaker, saying that he has no such power to unilaterally suspend them without a recourse to the House.
Meanwhile the House on Tuesday adopted 37 sitting days business calendar for the fourth quarter, first session of the 8th Assembly.
