Lagos issues 5,961 Planning Permits in one year

The Lagos State Government has granted a total of 5,961 Planning Permits to qualified applicants in the space of one year.

The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, revealed this at an annual ministerial press briefing on Wednesday at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre Alausa, Ikeja.

Olumide disclosed that out of 8,042 applicants, 5,961 Planning permits were issued within the reported period.

“We hope to enhance Planning Permit Applications and Fast- track the Approval Process through many initiatives that we have introduced including sustained public enlightenment and sensitization programme, the Amnesty programme and 40% rebate to civil servants,” he said.

Statistics of a 5-year comparative figure of Planning Permit issuance from 2019 to 2023 were also disclosed by the commissioner.

According to him, in 2019, 2,030 out of 3,814 applicants were granted planning permits, saying that in 2020, 4,821 out of 6,224 applicants were granted planning permit.

Olumide added that in 2021, 6,329 out of 7,967 applicants were granted planning permits; adding that in 2022, 5,060 out of 6,823 applicants were granted planning permits and in 2023, 5,961 out of 8,042 applicants were granted planning permits.

Olumide went ahead to state the achievements of the state government within the period under review.
