By Okafor Ofiebor/Port Harcourt

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesome Wike, to end their political rift for the growth and development of the state.

Jonathan called for ceasefire while speaking at the flag-off of Trans-Kalabari road worth about N225Billion.

He said destabilizing Rivers would negatively affect the Niger Delta region and would also have spiral effects on the country insisting that Rivers remained critical to Nigeria.

The former President advised that outgoing Governors and incoming governors must work together for the development of their states, adding that all political actors in Rivers must work together for the love of the State.

“I join well meaning people in the nation to call for a cease fire. If there is crisis in Rivers State it will go beyond the Niger Delta. The whole nation will suffer,” Jonathan said.

“I appeal to both Minister Nyesom Wike and the Governor to forget what is past and come together for the sake of Rivers State. You cannot clap with one hand. Let us do things that will rather project the state,” he advised.
