Lagos PMO begins working tour to government parastatals, agencies in June

The Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO) has disclosed that it is embarking on a working tour to government-owned agencies from June, 2024.

This was revealed by the Permanent Secretary, PMO, Mrs. Adetutu Ososanya, on Friday at a ministerial press briefing at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

“The office has obtained an approval to embark on a working tour to all Parastatals/agencies and Government-owned companies,” she said.

According to Ososanya, the exercise is set to commence in June 2024, to conduct on-the-spot assessment of the agencies’ operational activities.

The permanent secretary further said that PMO conducted a major routine inspection exercise to over 80 parastatals and agencies across the state in a bid to ensure alignment with the government’s financial guidelines.

“The inspection enabled the office to have first-hand information of all the activities of the agencies and to measure their performances, effectiveness in delivering essential services to the people and meeting set targets,” she said.

Ososanya said that the PMO carried out a comprehensive compilation of manpower statistics across the parastatals and government-owned companies.

“The Parastatals Monitoring Office carried out a comprehensive compilation of manpower statistics across the parastatals/agencies and government-owned companies. The compilation of the final report was achieved in collaboration with the Lagos Bureau of Statistics.

“The report which also covers pension contributions and deductions serves as a comprehensive assessment of the workforce distribution, pension contributions, compliance with pensions regulations in parastatals and government-owned companies.

“This report is expected to serve as a resource for stakeholders, policymakers, CEOs/heads of agencies to make informed decisions, optimize workforce management and prioritize employees welfare,” she stated.
