Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has assured Edo people that the outcome of the 21 September governorship election in the state will reflect the choice of the voters.
He disclosed this on Friday in Benin at a stakeholders’ meeting with the 17 political parties participating in the election.
Yakubu who assured all parties in the Edo election of a level-playing field before, during, and after the election, however, urged them to play the game by the rule, to ensure a peaceful election in the state.
Responding to concern over security at CVR centers and polling units during elections, the INEC boss noted that the financial implications of deploying two security operatives to each of the 4519 polling units in Edo State during the election would be too cumbersome for the Commission to handle.
He, however, lamented the high number of uncollected Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) in the state, which he put at over 200,000.
