Former United States President, Donald Trump has vowed to appeal what he says is a ‘scam’ judgement in the historic hush money criminal trial.
Trump was convicted on all 34 counts on Thursday in New York and will be sentenced by the court on 11 July, 2024.
Delivering a speech on his conviction on Friday, Trump said “We’re gong to be appealing this scam.”
“We’re going to be appealing it on many different things,” Trump added, complaining about the conduct of Justice Juan Merchan.
“He wouldn’t allow us to have witnesses, he wouldn’t allow us to talk, he wouldn’t allow us to do anything. The judge was a tyrant.”
He added that bad people were responsible for his conviction, saying “If they can do this to me, they can do this to anyone.”
Trump bashed Judge Juan Merchan, saying “There’s never been a more conflicted judge. Now, I’m under a gag order, which nobody has ever been under — no presidential candidates ever been under a gag order before.
“I’m under a gag order, nasty gag order, where I’ve had to pay thousands of dollars in penalties and was threatened with jail.”
He added that the trial was very unfair, saying “As far as the trial itself, it was very unfair. We weren’t allowed to use our election expert under any circumstances. You saw what happened to some of the witnesses that were on our side, they were literally crucified by this man.”
Trump went on to criticize Judge Juan Merchan further, saying “he looks like an angel, but he’s really a devil.”
