At least four persons have reportedly been killed after a heavy-duty truck, carrying about eight Compressed Natural Gas,(CNG) cylinders fell at the Obiri Ikwerre flyover in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and burst into flames.

The incident occurred on Tuesday. According Investigation, the cylinders were high-pressure tanks that hold Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for use as fuel in vehicles.

About four explosions were heard as some of the gas cylinders went off.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the burning truck fell on a vehicle. He said the driver of the truck whose identity could not be immediately ascertained escaped but that the occupants might not lucky .

The Federal fire service has put out the fire.

Another incident caused pandemonium on Tuesday as four explosions were heard following the falling of a petroleum tanker.

The tanker was said to have fallen on a smaller car and bursts into flames at Obiri-Ikwerre flyover in Obio-Akpor local government area near Port Harcourt.

Eyewitnesses told our Correspondent that the explosion occurred at about 9.30am this morning as a tanker laden with Petroleum fell on a car which is completely burnt.

The fire incident has caused traffic jam as vehicular and pedestrian movements were hampered by the diversion caused by the fire.

At the time of filing this report, it was learnt that the Federal Fire Service personnel were already battling to fight the fire.

The area has been cordoned off by firefighters and security personnel.
