The Super Eagles of Nigeria held the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to another disappointing 1-1 draw in a World Cup qualifying match in Akwa Ibom State.

This is the third match the Eagles have drawn since the qualifier began, dropping six points and amassing only three points.

The Eagles are now fifth on the table, with hope of qualifying for the next world cup in jeopardy.

Themba Zwane, who plies his trade at Mamelodi Sundowns opened the scoring for the South Africans 29 minutes into the game.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru equalised for the Eagles a minute after the restart after a good assist from Alex Iwobi. He buried the ball in the net for a fantastic goal.

The Eagles mounted the pressure on the South Africans late in the game, but the dangerous visitors held on.

Lesotho now top the with five points, having won a game and drew two, while Rwanda are second with four points and Benin, third with four points.

South Africa are fourth with four points while Nigeria are fifth with three points and Zimbabwe six with two points.
