President Bola Tinubu is yet to get the report of the Tripartite Committee on Minimum Wage because the Organised Labour leaders are currently not in Nigeria.
This is according to a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen.
The statement said the labour leaders are attending International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conference in Geneva, Switzerland which will end on July 3rd.
It said the 37-member committee led by Bukar Goni Aji will be led to formally present the report to Tinubu by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, immediately after the labour leaders return from Switzerland.
The statement read: “The Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage has concluded its assignment and submitted report to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday, 10th June, 2024.
“A formal presentation of the report will be made to Mr. President for appropriate action, when the leadership of the Organised Labour as well as representatives of Government and Organised Private Sector, who are presently in Geneva, Switzerland for the ongoing International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conference, return to the country.
“The SGF thanked the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, and members for their commitment and sacrifices.”
It remains to be seen what decision Tinubu will take on the report as the labour leaders insist on N250,000 as Minimum Wage while representatives of government and the Organised Private Sector offer to pay N62,000.
