Controversial Nigerian singer, Azeez Adeshina Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley has advised his fans not to be bothered about people’s opinions of them.
In a series of posts on his social media page on Wednesday, the Marlian Records founder advised his fans to have a mind of their own.
Naira Marley said what people think should not be any of “your business”.
“You have a brain and mind of your own. Use it, and reach your own decisions,” he wrote.
“As a Marlian, what people in the world think of you is really none of your business.”
Marley’s post sparked a wave of mixed reactions online, with some users wondering if anyone still identifies as a “Marlian”.
A segment of users also questioned whether his ‘conscience is haunting” him.
In March, Naira Marley shared a resolute message, stating his resilient stance and promising his haters that there’s plenty more to provoke their ‘madness’.
Marley sings in English, Pidgin, and Yoruba. His music is a blend of Afrobeats and hip-hop.
He is known as the president of his controversial fan base, “Marlians”.
On September 12, Mohbad, Marley’s former label signee, died under mysterious circumstances.
His demise stirred up controversies on social media with several calls and cries for justice from colleagues and fans.
In October, the singer was arrested over allegations that he was involved in the death of Mohbad.
Marley was released on bail in November after spending over five weeks in detention.
