Host Germany displayed a fantastic performance to crushed 10-man Scotland 5-1 on Friday in the opening match of Euro 2024.

Germany did not waste time in stamping their dominance as they opened scoring 10 minutes into the game.

Joshua Kimmich produced a killer pass to release Florian Wirtz, who then unleashed a low drive from the edge of the box and scored.

Nine minutes later, Germany added a second goal. Kai Havertz fed Jamal Musiala inside the box, who was unmarked and buried the ball in the top of the net.

The homers made it 3-0 one minute into first half added time from the penalty spot after Ryan Porteous was sent off for horrendous challenge in the box.

Kai Havertz ran up to the ball, stopped and waited for Angus Gunn to commit before slotting the penalty into the middle of the goal.

Germany added the fourth goal 68 minutes into the game. Niclas Fullkrug pounced on a loose ball inside the box and beat the goalkeeper with a shot into the top right corner.

Antonio Rudiger, three minutes to the end of the game scored an own goal to make it 4-1. A totally disorientated Rudiger accidentally put the ball into his own goal.

Germany hit back with the fifth goal three minutes into added time. Emre Can perfectly collected a pass on the edge of the penalty area from Thomas Muller, then produced a nice strike into the right side of the goal.
