The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has expressed the optimism that the All Progressives Congress will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party in the coming Edo State Governorship election this year.
Edo State is being governed by the PDP through Governor Godwin Obaseki who hopes to handover to his party candidate, Asue Ighodalo. The APC governorship candidate is Monday Okpebholo.
But Senator Akpabio expressed his optimism during the South -South Zonal meeting of the APC held in Calabar on Sunday.
He said: ” I am hoping that by the time we’ll hold this meeting next year, we shall be sitting with two Governors from the South-south zone”.
“God has enabled the zone to be on the table”, and centre of Governance in the country.
“45 years after the Late Senator Joseph Wayas, my emergence as Senate President is in the best interest of the zone. If we are committed, we will achieve anything, we are going to defeat Obaseki”.
