Hundreds of supporters escorted Deputy Senate President, Dr. Barau Ibrahim Jubrin to pray at Kabo Local Government Area, Kano state, where he appealed to God to bless Nigeria with lasting peace and security.
Dr. Barau Jubrin is representing Kano North at the Senate where he serves as the second-in-command.
He also urged Nigerians to keep faith in God and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu with prayers so that he can take the country to greater heights.
“We should all pray for peace and security in our country. The president is doing his best to address the challenges we are facing in the country. We should continue to support him.
“The current situation we are facing has a global dimension. So, we should continue to support and pray for him so that what he is doing to address the challenges will become successful,” he said.
He joined other Muslims to observe eid prayers in his home town, Kabo Local Government Area of Kano North Senatorial District.
“The choice to celebrate eid in my home town is to rejoice and connect with my people. This is my home town and as you can see the people are very happy and excited to see me. So, this is necessary every time,” he said.
Senator Barau along with his entourage observed the eid prayers around 9 am. amid mammoth crowd as residents across Kabo trooped out to perform the prayers.
It would be recalled that Senator Barau performed this year’s Eid-el-Fitr prayers in Kabo.
He reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to address challenges facing the country, and urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, security and prosperity of the country.
Earlier in his sermon, the Chief Imam of Kabo, who led the two raka’at prayers, Malam Jaafaru Mustapha, preached tolerance and unity, urging all to pray and support the leaders.
While appreciating the numerous supports they are getting from the Deputy President of the Senate, the Imam described him as a leader who always put his people first.
“This is a period of sacrifice and celebration. So, we should all thank Almighty Allah for his blessings. We should also pray for our leaders and obey them, where they are right. This is the teaching of our prophet, Muhammad PBUH,” he said.
A special prayer session was organized for the Deputy President of the Senate at the end of the eid prayers.
