Three suspected kidnappers allegedly arrested with 'huge' ransom money in Benue

Three alleged kidnappers were allegedly intercepted early Monday at a motor park in Oturkpo while attempting to board a vehicle to Makurdi, the Benue State capital with huge sums of money suspected to be ransom they collected from their victims

According to reports, the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG) in Otukpo based on information they received about their presence in the town.

Witnesses stated that the suspects were found in possession of a substantial sum of money believed to be the ransom collected from their captives.

The BSCVG operatives detained the suspects but later handed them over to the police in Otukpo for further investigation.

The Police Command in Benue on Tuesday confirmed the arrest of the three suspected kidnappers. SP Sewuese Anene, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the development over the phone from Makurdi.

Anene confirmed that the suspects were apprehended on Monday at a motor park in Otukpo.

She added that further details would be provided later.
