Lagos promotes gender equality with 'Man Wey Sabi' Programme

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has continued its sensitization efforts across the state to curb gender-based violence.

At the “Man Wey Sabi” awareness program held at Orisunmbare Modern Market in Idimu, Mrs. Salami Kafayat, representing Executive Secretary Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, emphasized the initiative’s aim to challenge gender stereotypes through behavioral mindset programs, sensitization, and training of relevant stakeholders.

Mrs. Kafayat noted the importance of collective responsibility in empowering women and urged community leaders and residents to advocate for gender equality.

She also encouraged men to report cases of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), assuring that the Agency is ready to assist.

The programme revealed men’s crucial roles in ending domestic and sexual violence and promoting partnership in marriages.

An entertaining cooking competition, sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited, showcased men’s culinary skills, aiming to spread the message in a lively manner and challenge stereotypes about men’s involvement in childcare and marriage partnership.

High Chief (Prince) Yekeen Saka, Babaloja of Orisunmbare Modern Market, expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration for creating a conducive environment for both genders to thrive.

The cooking competition winner, Mr. Lawrence Idowu, thanked the Agency for bringing the initiative to the market.
