Quick Read

Akpabio added that the senate would approve things that would improve the living standard of the people, saying that "At the same time, we will also take cognizance of the duties of the president."

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday said President Bola Tinubu has not requested the approval for the purchase of presidential jet from the senate.

Akpabio spoke during plenary to clear misconception over the purported plan to purchase new presidential jets.

He said the senate cared about the president and also cared about the Nigerian people, saying that the upper chamber would approve things that would benefit the Nigerian people.

Akpabio added that the senate would approve things that would improve the living standard of the people, saying that “At the same time, we will also take cognizance of the duties of the president.”

According to him, if Tinubu’s vehicle is bad, “we will repair the vehicle. If his plane is bad, we will approve money for the repair of the plane. So that is not an issue. There is nothing before us. I don’t think you should worry about it.”
