Ekiti farmer, 45, docked for allegedly raping 65-year-old woman

A 45-year-old farmer, Abajigbin Gbenga has been remanded in a correctional centre after he was docked for raping a 65-year-old woman

The police charged Gbenga who was arraigned at Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court with rape.

The prosecution counsel, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that Gbenga committed the offence sometime in April 2024 at Ipole Iloro- Ekiti.

Adeniyi alleged that the victim told the suspect to help her fumigate her farm.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, who did not take the plea of Gbenga, ordered the police to return the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Ekiti for legal advice while the accused should be remanded in a correctional centre.

Babalogbon adjourned the case until July 31 for mention.
