Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf has vowed that his administration will not let Kano drug dealers know peace.
Yusuf’s vow was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by his spokesman , Sunusi Bature .
The Kano helmsman was expressed the surprised that some drug dealers in the state approached the judiciary to have their seized consignments of illicit drugs released.
He said: “Governor Yusuf’s amazement was evident as he discovered that individuals engaged in the illicit drug trade had procured court orders for the release of their seized contrabands.
“He conveyed his profound surprise at the judges who gave such orders, emphasising the severity of the issue at hand.
“In response to this troubling development, Governor Yusuf instructed the state Attorney General to formulate a comprehensive strategy to prevent drug traffickers from exploiting legal loopholes in the future,” the statement said.
The statement also said: “Governor Yusuf’s firm position underscores the seriousness of the drug trafficking dilemma and the urgent need for unified endeavours to protect the state from the menace of illicit substances,” the statement said.
