Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Dogo Garba, wept on Monday when he visited the scene of Kano latest road accident which claimed 25 lives and left 53 seriously injured.
He also visited the hospital where the survivors are receiving treatment.
CP Dogo who expressed dissatisfaction over reckless driving urged motorists, commuters and pedestrians to remain careful while using the roads.
Mr. Dogo also led a raid to a number of flash points and hangouts of bandits and street urchins, with a stern warning, ordering them to leave Kano or be ready take the full wrath of the law.
The new Kano police boss, who said he would keep building on the legacies of his predecessor, Mohammed Usain Gumel, assured the citizens of Kano of adequate protection of lives and property.
A statement by the Kano Police Command Spokesperson, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said that Dogo embarked on visitations to locations of thuggery activities and criminal hideouts within Kano metropolis on July 1.
The Statements read: “On July 1, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba embarked on s comprehensive visit to Sheka and Kwanar Goda Quarters where clearance operations on the activities of thugs (Yan Daba) were carried out and also extended the visit to a scene of an unfortunate accident at Na’ibawa Flyover that claimed twenty-five (25) human lives, caused injuries to fifty-three (53) others and lost of valuable properties.
“The visit aimed to assess the effectiveness of police operations conducted in the areas, engaging with critical stakeholders to provide insights into enhancing safety and security measures in the State.
” During the visit at the areas where the operations were conducted, the Commissioner of Police interacted with personnel involved in the clearance operations and commended their diligence and commitment to maintaining law and order.
“Additionally, the CP during the visit to the scene of the accident, offered condolences to the victims and families of the deceased and further emphasizes the importance of safety and accident prevention measures.
“The visit is part of the dedication of the Kano State Police Command to upholding the highest standard of professionalism and ensuring the safety and security of all Kano State residents.
