Jigawa declares Monday public holiday to mark Islamic New Year

The Jigawa State Government has declared Monday July 8, 2024 as work-free day to mark the new Islamic Year 1446 AH, being celebrated on Sunday 7, 2024.
This is contained in a statement signed by the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K Dagaceri.
He advised workers and citizens of the State to pray for continued peace and prosperity of the State.
The Government urged the people of the State to reflect and live their lives based on the teachings of Islam and practice of Prophet Muhammad.
The Head of Service, also urged the people to continue to be law abiding and shun any acts that could cause breach of the peace in the State.
The Islamic New Year, also called the Hijri New Year, is the day that marks the beginning of a new lunar Hijri year, and is the day on which the year count is incremented. The first day of the Islamic year is observed by most Muslims on the first day of the month of Muharram.
