The Coalition for Yobe East Progressive Youths has called on Senator Ahmed Lawan to contest for Yobe governorship in 2027.

Lawan is a former president of the senate.

President of the group, Dr Yarima Goni, made the call at a news briefing on Sunday in Damaturu.

Goni cited the need for strong and visionary leadership to drive the state toward prosperity, given its slow pace of progress compared with other states, as the reason for the call.

He praised Lawan’s qualities of integrity, vision and effective governance as well as his proven track record.

Goni urged Lawan to heed the call of duty and offer himself as governorship aspirant in 2027.

He assured that the group would rally behind Lawan and mobilise support for him to ensure that clinched the position.

Goni listed the group’s vision for the state under Lawan’s leadership to include: access to quality education, thriving businesses and improved infrastructure.

He called on all stakeholders to unite in this endeavour to secure a promising future for the state.
