The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the collapse of a school building in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, describing it as a significant tragedy for Nigeria and humanity.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Saturday in Abuja, the party mourned the loss of numerous bright and promising young students, with many others injured.
The PDP shared great sorrow at the heartbreaking incident, which has caused huge pain and anguish to students, teachers, parents, families, and the entire Plateau State and Nigerian communities.
“Indeed, the heartrending death of these young Nigerian children, who left their respective homes to school in search of knowledge and pursuit of their dreams and aspirations came as a huge blow to our nation”. Ologunagba stated.
“It is also a huge blow to humanity and we pray that their death will not be in vain.”
Ologunagba extended the PDP’s condolences to Governor Caleb Mutfwang and joined in solidarity with teachers, parents, siblings, affected families, and the injured during this challenging period.
The statement also praised Governor Mutfwang’s swift response in organizing search and rescue operations, facilitating recovery efforts, and providing essential emergency assistance, including prompt evacuation and medical care for the injured.
The PDP concluded with prayers for the souls of the departed, solace for the grieving families, and a speedy recovery for the injured.
