President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his government’s dedication to tackling food security issues and reducing the cost of living during an event in Lagos on Saturday.

Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu emphasized recent steps such as temporarily lifting tariffs on imported grains and essential food items to address the country’s rising food prices.

These measures are aimed at alleviating food shortages and enhancing affordability for consumers, part of a broader strategy to improve living standards nationwide.

“We are taking steps to address food shortages by temporarily removing tariffs on imported grains and other food items,” the President stated.

Tinubu also revealed the importance of both short-term relief efforts and long-term goals like promoting local food production for sustainable self-sufficiency. He also highlighted Nigeria’s unity as crucial during challenging times, urging national support for ongoing initiatives to enhance quality of life.

” We will continue to drive local production and ensure that we produce what we eat and use locally,” he added.

Tinubu praised Chief Olusegun Osoba, acknowledging his substantial contributions to Nigerian journalism, politics, and democracy, noting Osoba’s roles as a former governor of Ogun State and his involvement in the struggle for democratic restoration in the country.
