The  faction of the Rivers State House of Assembly loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and led by Martin Amaewhule, says it has suspended all expenditures of Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The faction said the suspension would linger till Fubara re-presents the 2024 budget before the house.

The faction had given Fubara a seven-day ultimatum to re-present his budget. The ultimatum had expired as of Monday.

The factional House Leader, Major Jack, in a motion he moved on Monday, reminded the house of the the ultimatum.

The house then resolved to shut down the Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account.

However, Fubara has insisted he will not recognise the 25-man faction and would continue working with the three-man house led by Victor Oko-Jumbo in spite of a judgement of the Court of Appeal setting aside a High Court order invalidating their seats.

Oko-Jumbo had also said his faction was heading to the Supreme Court to appeal the High Court judgement.
