Music executive Dayo ‘D1’ Adeneye has shared that women often faint during performances by the renowned musician 2Baba, previously known as 2Face.
Appearing on the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast hosted by comedian Teju Babyface, Adeneye recounted an incident where four women fainted at a concert in Ivory Coast while 2Baba was on stage.
Adeneye, who was once the director of 2Baba’s former label, Kennis Music, mentioned that at its peak, the label had over 50 artistes.
“At the height of Kennis Music, we had over 50 artistes on the label. Lagbaja was signed to us. We had everybody, from gospel to hip-hop to fuji,” he said.
Reflecting on the intense fan reactions to 2Baba’s performances, he said,
“We’ve been at several shows where I’ve seen girls faint when 2Face was performing. During a tour in Ivory Coast, we brought a girl on stage, she hugged 2Face, and immediately passed out. During that concert, four girls fainted.”
Adeneye spoke on the dedication of 2Baba’s fans, noting,
“These were people who didn’t speak English but knew the lyrics to all his songs word-for-word. This was a francophone country, and four girls fainted. We thought it was a joke, but an ambulance had to carry them away. They fainted just because they were in the presence of 2Face.”
