The organised labour leaders have explained why they accepted the N70,000 approved by President Bola Tinubu as minimum wage.
The labour leaders who had been insisting on N250,000, met with the President Thursday.
The Federal Government had then through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, announced N70,000 as the minimum wage.
He had said Tinubu also promised to help the private sector and sub-national entities meet the minimum wage requirement.
After the meeting, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero who was accompanied by Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other labour leaders addressed the media.
According to Ajaero, there were incentives the President attached to the offer of the minimum wage.
