An Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos Island, Lagos has sentenced and convicted a 22-year-old man, Olarewaju Oluwadayo to nine years imprisonment without an option of fine for vandalizing and stealing cables valued at N50m belonging to Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Eko Disco.

The convict was jailed by Magistrate, Mr A. A Paul after he was found guilty in the three count charges bordering on wilful damage and stealing preferred against him by the Police at the Barbeach division, Victoria Island, Lagos and the facts of the matter presented before the Court by the Police Counsel, Ishola Samuel in the trial spanning about seven months.

Police said that the journey to jail started for the convict on 25 January 2024 when he went to Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, Lagos to vandalise and steal electricity cables valued at N50m.

Police further stated that luck, however, ran out against him when he was apprehended by Eko Disco’s team led by one Odia Emmanuel who was on patrol in the area and handed him over to the Police.

After investigation by Inspector Patience Onyeche and his team, the convict was charged before the Court on three counts.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail.

Magistrate Paul convicted him for three years each in the three count charges without an option of fine.
