Many Hollywood and music superstars have now declared their support of vice president Kamala Harris as she launches her presidential campaign in the race for the White House following Joe Biden’s withdrawal.

The vice president was announced as the new Democrat frontrunner, prompting a flurry of donations to the party and statements of support from celebrities including Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Cardi B, Barbra Streisand, George Clooney and Freaky Friday actor Jamie Lee Curtis.

Cardi B, who had earlier suggested that Harris should be the Democratic Party’s candidate after President Joe Biden’s debate with the Republican Party candidate, Donald Trump, welcomed the news of Biden stepping down and endorsing Harris with excitement.

Reacting via her X handle, Cardi B wrote: “Aha hahaha let’s go! I told y’all Kamala [Harris] was supposed to be the 2024 candidate… Stop f*ckin playin with me!”

Cardi B had told Rolling Stone in May that she won’t be voting in the November poll if the two major candidates remain incumbent President Joe Biden of the Democratic Party, and his predecessor, Donald Trump of the Republican Party.

She explained that she used to see Trump as “a dire threat”, but under Biden, she felt “layers and layers of disappointment” from what she sees as domestic and foreign mismanagement.

Perry, who recently released her latest single “Woman’s World”, sang a few bars from the track in light of Biden’s withdrawal. “It’s a woman’s world, and you’re lucky to be living in it,” she mouthed at the camera.

Sharing a picture of the President and his Vice via her Instagram story, Ariana Grande wrote: “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

Grande called on her followers to register to vote for the Democratic Party.

“Register to vote,” she captioned the photo.

According to The Hill, Kamala Harris has secured over a quarter of the delegates needed to win the Democratic Presidential nomination so far.

Meanwhile, former President and Republican Party candidate, Donald Trump, has said Kamala Harris would be easier to defeat in the November poll than Biden.

In an interview with CNN on Sunday night, Trump welcomed Biden’s withdrawal from the Presidential race.
