In response to calls for a ban on her upcoming film, Nigerian actress Nancy Isime has addressed the controversy surrounding her movie.

Recently, Isime posted a promotional image for “Blood Brothers,” in which she is depicted wearing a niqab and holding a gun.

This sparked huge backlash from Muslim communities on social media.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) condemned the film, criticizing Isime for her portrayal of a robbery scene in the niqab, and urged the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to prohibit its release.

In reaction, Isime took to Instagram with a series of posts that seemed to indirectly address the situation.

She focused on her personal peace and ambitions, stating,

“I’m in my own world, away from drama and gossip. My focus is on goals and peace. I don’t let others’ opinions affect me. Remember, your light may trigger others’ insecurities, which they project onto you as flaws. It’s their way of coping. My name and presence are strong, and I’m not bothered by the chatter around me. Look at who is talking.”
