Alhaji Muhammad Goronyo, the Minister of State for Water Resources and Sanitation, has called on Nigerians, especially the youth, to maintain confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda for the nation.

Goronyo urged the youth to cancel their planned nationwide protest for the country’s welfare.

He made this appeal during a stakeholders and public session organized by the Sokoto State Government on Friday.

The session discussed the planned nationwide protest against the rising cost of living and economic difficulties.

Goronyo emphasized that Nigerians, despite their differences, should not let the protest harm their patriotic spirit or destabilize the nation’s integrity.

“This government is only a year and two months into its four-year term. Nigerians need to be fair and patriotic, giving the administration time to deliver,” he stated.

The minister noted that President Tinubu’s administration took bold steps after inheriting the assets and liabilities of the previous administration to strengthen democracy and promote development.

He described the planned protest as politically motivated treachery aimed at undermining the President and plunging the nation into helplessness.

“Patriotic citizens must work together to avert this destructive protest. Similar situations have led countries like Sudan and Libya into endless economic setbacks, collapsing virtually all infrastructure and resources,” Goronyo warned.

He mentioned that Sokoto State decided not to join the protest, a decision reached during a stakeholders’ session chaired by Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State.

Goronyo stated that the current APC-led government is committed to delivering its campaign promises.

He stressed the importance of supporting President Tinubu to lead the country to a prosperous future, where Nigerians’ hope and confidence will be secured.

Quoting the President’s oath of office, Goronyo recalled Tinubu’s commitment: “Since I opted to bid for the nation’s presidency, I must deliver.”

The minister pointed out that a year and two months is not enough time to evaluate the President’s performance through protests.

He reiterated that the Tinubu-led administration is determined to drive the renewed hope agenda, focusing on improving security, inclusiveness, reducing poverty, and encouraging the rule of law.
