Protest: NSCDC guarantees security of residents, infrastructure in Ogun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun Command, has guaranteed the the safety of residents and infrastructure during the scheduled nationwide protest.
The Corps Commander (CC), Mr David Ojelabi, gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abeokuta on Saturday.
He said the NSCDC Commandant-General, Mr Ahmed Audi, had earlier directed all state commandants and their personnel to safeguard critical infrastructure and lives in light of the slated protest.
Ojelabi, therefore, said the command has put in place all necessary logistics and personnel to enhance its operations in the state.
“The places to be overseen by the personnel include government offices and infrastructure, markets, shopping malls, amusement parks, oil pipelines and motor parks among others,” he said.
He, however, warned miscreants who might be planning to hijack the protest to perpetrate criminalities to have a rethink.
“This command will never hesitate to arrest such unscrupulous individuals and ensure they face the wrath of the law,” he said.
NAN reports that the planned nationwide protest, said to have been triggered by the rising cost of living and economic difficulties, is scheduled to be held from Aug 1. to Aug. 10. (NAN)
