Two persons, including a police officer lost their lives on on Tuesday evening as gunmen stormed a church premises in Asaba, the capital of Delta State to abduct a former Commissioner, Ms. Joan Onyemaechi,

Onyemaechi was a former Delta Commissioner for Technical Education and a former member of the House of Representatives.

She was abducted during the church service by the gunmen who shot two persons, including the police officer, who was the orderly attached to her dead.

The other victim was said to be a passer-by who was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.

The gunmen took the former commissioner away in her SUV vehicle amidst heavy shootings, it was gathered.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the abduction of the politician.

According to him, two persons, including a policeman, were killed in the incident.

He added that it was only the former lawmaker that was kidnapped.
