Nigeria's Samuel Ogazi lands into 400m final at Paris Olympics

Nigeria’s teenage sprinter, Samuel Ogazi has qualified for the final of the men’s 400m at the ongoing Olympic games in Paris, France.

Running in the third semi-final, Ogazi came third to qualify for the final in a time of 44.41 seconds.

In doing this, he set his Personal Best record in the race.

The race was won by Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain in a time of 44.07 seconds while Michael Norman of the United States of America (USA) came second in a time of 44.26 seconds.

Ogazi, 18, was based in Kaduna before accepting a scholarship in 2023 to study at the University of Alabama.

He competed in the 4x400m relay at the 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, Colombia.

He won the 200m and 400m at the 2023 African U18 and U20 Championships in Athletics in Ndola, Zambia.

He won gold over 200 metres and 400 metres at the Athletics at the 2023 Commonwealth Youth Games in Trinidad and Tobago.

He also won gold in the mixed 4x100m relay as his Nigerian team set a new games record.
