Former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan stormed the State House, Abuja on Tuesday as President Bola Tinubu holds the first National Council of State meeting to discuss critical issues.
Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is conspicuously missing at the meeting that also had former Heads of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (Rtd) and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (Rtd) in attendance virtually.
Also joining virtually were the governors of Abia, Adamawa, and Akwa Ibom States.
The meeting of the National Council of State is always held to advise the President on policy decisions and other matters that the sitting president might put before them.
Members of the council are the President, Vice President, former Presidents and Heads of State, the Senate President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, state governors, the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
The meeting began at 12:35 pm with an opening ceremony where attendees sang and recited the national anthem and national pledge, respectively.
Expected to be discussed at the meeting include recent nationwide protest, the economy, food, and national security. They include the Nationwide protest as it affects national security and the state of the economy, and in the agricultural sector, they will discuss food security, availability, and affordability.
