The family of late Gospel singer, Aduke Gold Ajayi, who recently passed away has revealed the cause of her death.
Aduke Gold passed away on Monday at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state.
The cause of her death has since become a subject of public discussions. Some reports claimed she died of complications from fibroid removal.
However, addressing the rumours in a recent interview, Aderounmu Ajayi, the older brother to Aduke Gold said the Gospel singer died of cervical cancer.
He revealed that the singer was taken to UCH for admission but “she unfortunately died”.
Aderounmu also announced that the family has scheduled her burial activities including a candlelight procession and artistes night.
He revealed that the final burial will be held on August 23 at the Lagos African church, College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye.
“My name is Aderounmu Ajayi, an elder brother to Aduke. We are from the same father but different mothers. I started to nurture in the year 1993 after the death of our dad. From secondary to university level we have experienced sudden death,” he said.
“We had a meeting with the family. We decided that the burial would be coming up on Friday 23rd of August, this particular month. And some programmes are outlined. On Wednesday 21st, we will be having a candle night from 6 pm at Ayorinde Street, along College Road, Ifako-Ijaiye.
“On Thursday, which is the second day we will be having the artistes night from 6 pm to 6 am at the same venue. On Friday, we are having the burial service at the hall in the Lagos African church.
“She was ill. She had cervical cancer and she was taken to UCH in Ibadan. And unfortunately, she died. I am quoting the death certificate. So whoever is quoting what is not should just stop that. Our daughter was ill. She had cervical cancer and to the glory of God, she rested on Monday. It is always ideal to get information from the right source.
“She started from this church as a member of the choir. Right from this auditorium.”
Aduke Gold ventured into music as far back as the mid-2000s but started to gain traction after the release of ‘Nitori Ogo’ — which means “Because of Glory” — in 2021.
The song — from the same-titled album — earned her massive streams and popularity, especially on social media.
