Popular media personality Big Vic has stated that singer Asake has surpassed ace rapper and YBNL Nation CEO Olamide in prominence.
On a recent episode of the ‘Ctdamongblacks’ podcast, Big Vic commented:
“Asake is bigger than Olamide right now. I’m not talking about lifetime achievement; I’m talking about the moment. At this point, he [Asake] is bigger in terms of collaboration, connection, sold-out shows.
“Olamide could have decided not to invest so much in him but he knew that if Asake becomes big, he would benefit from it.”
He also pointed out that artistes from the Southeast are not supporting their peers in the music industry as effectively as their Southwest counterparts due to fears of being overshadowed.
He urged Igbo artistes to follow the example of their Yoruba colleagues by investing in emerging talents from their region.
It’s worth noting that Asake had previously disclosed that he spent about two years persuading Olamide before being signed to YBNL Nation.
Asake joined YBNL Nation in February 2022 and released his debut EP, ‘Ololade,’ that same month, which included the breakout hit “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide and the single “Sungba.”
