Chelsea crumbled to painful defeat to Man. City at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea suffered 0-2 defeated to defending champions Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge on Sunday in their Premier League opener.

Chelsea, aiming to bounce back from their disastrous performance last season where put to the sword by City, aiming to defend their title this season.

Erling Haaland opened the scoring for City 18 minutes into the match. He beautifully controlled a strongly hit pass from Bernardo Silva inside the box. He cut inside his marker and rifled the ball into the middle of the goal.

In the 37th minute, a dangerous attempt from Jeremy Doku was aimed towards the roof of the net, but Robert Sanchez pulled off a superb save and stopped the ball.

Chelsea had a goal ruled out in the 45th minute. Nicolas Jackson thought he had scored but the goal was ruled out, incredibly, for offside.

In the 52nd minute, Haaland latched on to an accurate pass on the edge of the box and produced a ferocious strike towards the left post, but his shot was well held by the goalkeeper.

In the 61st minute, Jackson  blew a huge opportunity to equalize for Chelsea. He was totally unmarked and fired a first-time shot towards goal from a few yards out, but Ederson reacted superbly to keep the ball out.

City thought they had double their advantage as Rico Lewis scored in the 66th minute but Anthony Taylor blew his whistle for a foul.

Six minutes to the end of the match, City scored their second goal. It was a beauty of a goal from just outside the box. Mateo Kovacic lashed the ball with incredible pace and power inside the left post.
