Nigerian Afrobeats star Tekno has addressed swirling rumours about his health after a video reportedly showing him collapsing on stage in South Africa went viral on social media.
Tekno, whose real name is Augustine Miles Kelechi Okechukwu, took to Instagram to clarify the situation.
In his post, Tekno reassured fans with photos on beach walkway: “Hey guys, I’m hale and hearty and not currently in South Africa. I hope whoever that was in the video is doing well and ok. Thank you guys. Love you.”
The rumour was further challenged by fellow Afrobeats artiste Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi.
In a response on X (formerly Twitter), Mr. Eazi humorously countered the rumours, saying: “Lmao Tekno wey dey Malabo,” referencing that Tekno is actually in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, and not South Africa as reported.
The video, which stirred concern among fans, showed a man believed by many to be Tekno being attended to by security personnel.
This led to widespread misinformation and anxiety among his supporters.
