The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has come under severe criticism from social media users after he claimed that Nigeria’s problems are spiritual.
The attacks came following the emergence of a video where the cleric said Nigeria’s ongoing socio-economic challenges should not be blàmed on the country’s political leaders alone because they are making efforts to find solutions.
He, however, believes that only divine intervention can truly rescue Nigeria from its current difficulties.
Adeboye, who spoke during a visit to the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, said:
“I am delighted to be here again. I was here about two years ago with the former governor. At that time, I came to pray for some of my members who were kidnapped and were miraculously rescued. I came to encourage their families to let them know that all will be well.
“I have come again this time around because it has become more clearer to us that the problems our nation is facing is more than political. Our problems will require quite a bit of spiritual solution.
“We as a country are blessed. We are blessed with people with great intelligence. We are blessed with all manners of resources and yet we have so many problems.
“It is not as if people in authority are not trying their best. They are doing as much as humanly possible and then we found out that when you have problems that are beyond human ability to solve them, you call on the Almighty. The reason we call Him Almighty is because He has the power to solve all problems.
“So, we have been going round in our own little ways to support the efforts of all the various governments and parastatals to call on the Almighty to come to our aid because we need help. We need help and we need it urgently,” Adeboye said.
But the comments by the man of God has not gone down well with many Nigerians who criticized him for being hypocritical.
Ike wrote, “I am a member of RCCG but i heavily disagree with Adeboye on this! Nigeria’s problem is NOT spiritual but FAILURE TO HOLD OUR LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE AND CALL OUT CORRUPT PRACTICES OF THESE WICKED LEADERS!!! At this point even GOD must be angry at us for failure to say the TRUTH!!!”
ShawyDr said, “Your overseer is satanic, to say the least. He’s no different from the Judas Iscariot that sold Jesus out. He is devilish. And I’m surprised that his church still has a congregation.

Local Werey stated: “Afghanistan is the most prayerful country in the world, and Nigeria comes second. Want me to show the countries that are least spiritual and tell you how they are doing?”
Hezekiah Freeman wrote, “Adeboye is one of those men disguising as a man of God. In reality, he does not even understand what it means to be a man of God. In the days of the scriptures, Kings were scared of Men of God but these days “Men of God” are slaves to politicians. They are the real wolves.”
Ta Ta Ta said: “If no be say dem say them go arrest us if we insult man of God I for say make thunder strike this man now ”
Dr Iszzy stated: “Pastor should be respected in this country , they pray for country Betterment.. Anyone who d!srespect pastor or prophet should be arrested ASAP”
