The city of Lagos has been awash with tears and emotional tributes today as the popular music icon Onyeka Onwenu was laid to rest.
The funeral service, held at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, drew a large crowd of mourners, each moved by the loss of a woman whose influence spanned music, broadcasting, acting, and activism.
Onwenu, who died on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72, was honoured by a touching service attended by prominent figures including former presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti.
Following the service, a private burial took place at a vault in Ikoyi, where family and close friends gathered to pay their final respects.
The mood and atmosphere was somber as her casket is being laid to the ground.
